Job Summary

The Emergency Medicine Specialist is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department. The role requires delivering high-quality, evidence-based acute care within a structured, high-acuity, tertiary hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Assess and manage patients presenting with acute medical and surgical emergencies
  • Perform triage, resuscitation, and stabilization of critically ill patients
  • Initiate and interpret diagnostic investigations
  • Provide timely and evidence-based treatment plans
  • Perform emergency procedures within scope of practice
  • Coordinate with other specialties for referrals and admissions
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in EMR

Operational Responsibilities

  • Participate in shift-based coverage including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Support patient flow and throughput within the Emergency Department
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Quality & Safety

  • Adhere to clinical governance, patient safety, and infection control standards
  • Participate in audits, morbidity & mortality reviews, and quality initiatives

Education & Development

  • Maintain continuous professional development (CPD)
  • Participate in teaching and mentoring junior staff when required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (mandatory)
  • Minimum 3 years post-board experience in Emergency Medicine
  • Experience must be from:
  • Governmental, Semi-governmental, or Teaching hospitals
  • Experience in high-volume, structured Emergency Departments is required

Licensure

  • Eligible for licensure with Qatar’s Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP)
