Job Description
The school nurse supports student success by providing basic health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school setting. The school nurse addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students, while also promoting a healthy school environment. They play a key role in health education, disease prevention, and safeguarding, ensuring that students are fit to learn and thrive. In addition, the school nurse serves as a vital link between the school, families, and the wider healthcare community, advocating for the wellbeing of every child
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care and implement first aid measures for students and staff as required.
- Administer daily medications and nursing procedures as prescribed by physicians.
- Plan and provide vaccinations for students in line with schedules.
- Initiate and manage emergency procedures for students and staff when necessary.
- Take responsibility for assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of student care.
- Deliver evidence-based care in adherence to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) guidelines.
- Follow DHA protocols and instructions for school clinics.
- Establish, update, and maintain accurate student health and immunisation records.
- Prepare and maintain student clinic records, ensuring timely reporting.
- Submit reports as required to DHA and the School Senior Management Team.
- Maintain strict student confidentiality at all times.
- Implement and record screening programmes, informing parents when further evaluation is required.
- Manage student referrals and ensure parents are kept updated with all relevant health information.
- Contribute to health education initiatives for students and parents.
- Develop and implement “Kid’s Club” activities to promote wellbeing.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, and the local community.
- Follow procedures for suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.

Qualifications
- UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Degree in Nursing (minimum two years course duration) And Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
- Has worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 2 years
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and stakeholders.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, ensuring goals are met in dynamic environments.
