Role Purpose

The Registrar / Senior Registrar is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered and evidence-based medical care in accordance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. This role ensures effective diagnosis and treatment, maintains patient safety, and supports clinical excellence through collaboration, continuous professional development, and participation in training and educational activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Care and Patient Safety

• Provide comprehensive, professional, and ethical clinical services to patients.
• Diagnose and treat patients effectively and efficiently.
• Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of medical records.
• Maintain high standards of patient safety and quality of care.

2. Clinical Governance and Quality Management

• Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and professional ethical standards.
• Participate in clinical audits and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Support coordinated care and effective communication among healthcare professionals.

3. Patient Experience and Communication

• Provide patient-centered care while maintaining professional communication with patients and their families.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient management.
• Promote patient satisfaction through timely diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
• Support effective patient engagement and adherence to treatment plans.

4. Professional Development and Training

• Maintain clinical knowledge and skills through continuous professional development.
• Participate in academic and training activities, including education and mentorship.
• Support the supervision and development of junior physicians and medical trainees.
• Contribute to maintaining excellence in medical practice and clinical service delivery.

Requirements

Essential Minimum Requirements:

• Basic medical degree with a recognized specialty qualification, fellowship, or diploma.
• At least 3–5 years of experience at Specialist level.
• Certification and registration in a specialty recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
• Eligibility for relevant professional registration, such as Royal College Membership, Arab Board, Saudi Board Certification, MS, DM, MPhil, or an equivalent qualification recognized by SCFHS.
• Active and valid life support certification, such as BLS, PALS, or NRP, as applicable.

Desired Experience and Education:

• At least 1 year of Specialist-level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by SCFHS.
• Additional specialty-specific qualifications and training.

Technical Competencies:

• Proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Knowledge of clinical audit standards and quality management processes.
• Ability to support clinical training and mentorship for medical students and junior physicians.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage challenging situations professionally while maintaining patient safety and service excellence.
