The Specialist, Obstetrics & Gynaecology is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to women across the full spectrum of obstetric and gynecological services. The role involves diagnosing, managing, and treating patients within the scope of granted clinical privileges while ensuring exceptional clinical outcomes, patient safety, and a positive patient experience. The Specialist is expected to demonstrate clinical excellence and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care. This aligns with M42’s physician specialist framework for delivering evidence-based care within granted clinical privileges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient obstetrics and gynecology services.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage routine and high-risk obstetric cases.
  • Conduct antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care according to international best practices.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of gynecological conditions and disorders.
  • Perform obstetric and gynecological procedures within the scope of approved clinical privileges.
  • Manage labor and delivery cases, including emergency obstetric situations.
  • Conduct gynecological surgeries and minimally invasive procedures as credentialed.
  • Interpret diagnostic investigations, including ultrasound and laboratory findings.
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, anesthetists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Ensure informed consent is obtained prior to procedures and interventions.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, infection prevention standards, patient safety requirements, and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide emergency coverage as required.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, peer review activities, and continuous professional development.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, MD, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a recognized residency training program in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
  • Specialist qualification recognized by the Department of Health (DOH), Abu Dhabi.
  • Eligibility for or holding an active DOH License as a Specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of post-specialization experience in a tertiary care hospital or equivalent healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in managing both obstetric and gynecological emergencies.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and patient-centered care.
