Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and DHA/DOH licensed Molecular Biology/ Genetics Lab Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform advanced molecular biology and genetic laboratory testing, contributing to diagnostic and research projects in a state-of-the-art laboratory.
This position requires expertise in molecular diagnostics, strict adherence to quality standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform molecular and genetic laboratory tests, including but not limited to PCR, qPCR, NGS, Sanger, MLPA, Karyotyping and FISH
- Process, extract, and purify nucleic acids from a variety of biological samples
- Culture and processing prenatal, postnatal and oncology samples
- Analyze data and prepare detailed reports with precision and clarity
- Ensure compliance with Standard laboratory operating protocols and maintain high-quality standards
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
- Participate in internal and external quality control programs
- Assist in developing and validating new molecular assays and methodologies
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace always
- Assist the Clinical Laboratory Manager and Supervisors in distributing proficiency samples, performing analysis, and reporting testing results
Requirements Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, Biotechnology, or a related field
- Licensure: Valid DHA/DOH professional license as a Molecular Biology Technologist or Genetic Technologist, preferably with ASCP-MB certification
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a molecular biology/genetics laboratory, preferably in a clinical laboratory setting
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in molecular techniques such as PCR, qPCR, POCT, Sanger, and NGS
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and genetic databases
- Open to learn new advanced and classical technologies whenever it is mandatory
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from recognized organizations (e.g., ASCP or equivalent)
- Knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Experience in quality assurance and laboratory accreditation processes
