Molecular Biology/Genetic Lab Technologist

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and DHA/DOH licensed Molecular Biology/ Genetics Lab Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform advanced molecular biology and genetic laboratory testing, contributing to diagnostic and research projects in a state-of-the-art laboratory.

This position requires expertise in molecular diagnostics, strict adherence to quality standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform molecular and genetic laboratory tests, including but not limited to PCR, qPCR, NGS, Sanger, MLPA, Karyotyping and FISH
  • Process, extract, and purify nucleic acids from a variety of biological samples
  • Culture and processing prenatal, postnatal and oncology samples
  • Analyze data and prepare detailed reports with precision and clarity
  • Ensure compliance with Standard laboratory operating protocols and maintain high-quality standards
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Participate in internal and external quality control programs
  • Assist in developing and validating new molecular assays and methodologies
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace always
  • Assist the Clinical Laboratory Manager and Supervisors in distributing proficiency samples, performing analysis, and reporting testing results

Requirements Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, Biotechnology, or a related field
  • Licensure: Valid DHA/DOH professional license as a Molecular Biology Technologist or Genetic Technologist, preferably with ASCP-MB certification
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a molecular biology/genetics laboratory, preferably in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in molecular techniques such as PCR, qPCR, POCT, Sanger, and NGS
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and genetic databases
  • Open to learn new advanced and classical technologies whenever it is mandatory
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from recognized organizations (e.g., ASCP or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
  • Experience in quality assurance and laboratory accreditation processes
