Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state-of-the-art facilities across the United Arab Emirates. NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the M42 network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.

We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Anatomical Pathology team. This role is responsible for supporting histopathology services through accurate specimen handling, tissue processing, and adherence to laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, verify, and accurately accession tissue specimens while maintaining full specimen traceability.
  • Perform gross examination and dissection of low- to medium-complexity specimens under appropriate supervision.
  • Prepare and process tissue samples for histopathology testing, including fixation and tissue handling.
  • Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and tracking of specimens, tissue blocks, and slides.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment while adhering to quality, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Support compliance with ISO 15189, CAP, JCI, EIAC, and other applicable laboratory regulations.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a related field.
  • Valid DOH license/eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
  • Experience in Histopathology or Anatomical Pathology laboratory services.
  • Knowledge of tissue processing, specimen handling, and histopathology laboratory techniques.
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality standards, including ISO 15189, CAP, and JCI requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
