Hospitalist Obstetrics and Gynecology – Specialist licensed
To provide comprehensive support to the consultants in providing in-patient and operative care for obstetrics and gynaecology patients in King’s College Hospital.
The post-holder will:
- Coordinate the day-to-day care and clinical management of in-patients in obstetrics and gynaecology, ensuring smooth clinical flow and timely decision-making in collaboration with the Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist.
- Manage a diverse caseload across inpatient, day-case, and outpatient settings, exercising appropriate clinical judgment while escalating complex or high-risk cases to the supervising consultant as required.
- Deliver safe, evidence-based obstetric and gynaecological care, maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice and patient experience.
- Uphold the professional values and manifesto of care expected of all physicians at King’s College Hospital, demonstrating accountability, integrity, and patient-centred practice in all clinical interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical
- Assess, investigate, and manage patients attending or admitted to King’s College Hospital & Clinics under direct supervision of the Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist.
- Support diagnosis and treatment following established evidence-based guidelines, ensuring senior review for all key clinical decisions.
- Review lab, imaging, and other diagnostic results promptly and adjust management after consultant discussion.
- Conduct supervised daily ward rounds for inpatient obstetric and gynaecological patients, documenting findings clearly and escalating any clinical deterioration.
- Assist in planning and preparation for obstetric and gynaecological surgeries, including pre-operative assessment, consent verification, and theatre coordination.
- Assist consultants intra-operatively and in post-operative care, ensuring safe recovery and monitoring of all surgical patients.
- Respond to nursing team requests to review patients and escalate to the supervising consultant as needed.
- Manage obstetric and gynaecological emergencies with senior clinician support, following escalation and rapid-response protocols.
- Liaise with senior medical and anaesthetic teams regarding peri-operative and inpatient care plans.
Clinical Governance & Personal Development
- Attend relevant departmental meetings, MDTs, and clinical discussions unless on approved leave.
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and risk reporting.
- Maintain active involvement in clinical governance, incident reporting, and improvement planning.
- Uphold Good Medical Practice as per UAE licensing authorities and UK standards.
- Maintain up-to-date CPD activities, courses, and study days in line with revalidation requirements.
Education & Qualification
- UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
- Licensed OBGYN Specialist
- MBBS & Master’s degree/Post Graduation/ Diploma in related specialty
- CCT or completion of a recognized specialist training program is preferable.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of clinical practice in similar setup
Training, Knowledge & Skills
- Resuscitation Certificate as per the specialty& Demonstrable ongoing and active Continues Personal Development (CPD)
- Supports quality patient care by showing empathy, maintaining patient dignity, and following proper protocols.
- Supports and guides junior team members, offering advice and assistance if required.
