The role involves delivering professional, ethical, and high-quality clinical care, managing clinical risks, ensuring compliance with governance standards, and maintaining accurate medical records. It also emphasizes continuous professional development and maintaining integrity in providing ethical, responsible clinical services.Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive professional and ethical quality clinical services to patients in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Ensure excellence in medical practice is maintained by focusing on continuous professional development of self and others.
  • Maintain integrity in professional services by executing clinical services in an ethical and responsible manner.
  • Will perform professional duties as an obstetrician/gynecologist
  • Providing surgical care both in the operating room and in the O.P.D. for gynecologic and obstetric conditions forboth emergency and planned procedures.
  • Covering the Delivery Room to include admitting patients, reviewing their history, planning a course of action,performing both spontaneous and operative deliveries, and interacting with midwives.
  • Covering the Emergency Service by promptly responding to calls for consultation.
  • Providing out-patient care in Clinics, when so assigned by the head of department.
  • Working evenings, nights, weekends and holidays according to a schedule compiled by the head of department.
  • Doing and interpreting ultrasound examinations both in hospital and on an out-patient basis.
  • Interpreting fetal heart rate monitoring and taking appropriate action.
  • Carrying out formal and informal consultations from physicians from other departments.
  • Attending committee meetings when so assigned by the Head of department.
  • Interacting with patients’ families to keep them informed of the patient’s condition, changes in condition and plans.
  • Monitors clinical and other established indicators to ensure ongoing quality assurance.
  • Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient
  • safety, patient assessment, and patient care.
  • Carrying out other duties when requested by the Head of department
  • Monitors within established guidelines the quality of care provided. Participates in review/study of difficult andspecial cases
  • All licensed and eligible healthcare providers participating in DOH’s Cervical Cancer Screening Program must:
  • Provide clinical services and patient care in accordance with DOH Policies and Standards , and the laws and regulations of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
  • Submit data to DOH  viae – Claims in accordance with the DOH Reporting of Health Statistics Policy and as set out in the DOH Data Standards and Procedures.
  • Comply with relevant DOHPolicies and Standards with special attention to:
  • Policies and standards on Patient Education and Consent: The licensed provider must provide appropriate patient education and information regarding the screening test and must ensure that appropriate patient consent is obtained and documented on the Patient’s medical record
  • Policies and standards on managing patient medical records including developing effective recording systems, maintaining patient records, maintaining confidentiality, privacy and security of patient information; and educating patients on services provided and satisfying the requirements of patient informed consent and patient rights and responsibilities charter
  • DOH Data Standards andProcedures.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems 
  • Comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies and safe working procedures
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
  • Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
  • Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety
  • Assist with the preparation of risk assessments
  • Report OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycling of waste as much as possible
  • Attend all OSH Trainings, awareness programs and mock drills.
  • Participates in the OSHMS audits, inspections, ensuring standards are maintained
  • Prevention and Control of Infection (PCI): 
  • PCI is everyone’s responsibility. All staff are required to read and implement the NMC PCI Policy and Strategy in an effort to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness at all times, thus reducing the risk of infection in patients, staff and visitors.

The strictest hand hygiene, 5 moments of hand hygiene, bare below the elbows and environmental care, will be expected of all staff, including the post holder, at all times

Qualifications

Eligibility for relevant healthcare authority registration e.g. Membership from Royal College / Arab Board Certification / MS / DM / MPhil or an equivalent recognised by relevant healthcare authority in UAE

At least 3 – 5 years’ post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)

At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.

Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognized by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.

Certification and registration in a specialty recognized by relevant UAE healthcare authority. Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
