Job Description
Assists in the provision of high quality Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) services to the Operating Room, Emergency Room, ICU and elsewhere as required.
Follows Departmental Policies and Procedures
Promotes infection control standards and adhere to occupational health and safety standards.
Follow proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
Receives contaminated devices, instruments and equipment in the decontamination area and reduces the bioburden, being sure to always do personal protective equipment.
Uses chemical, disinfectants and sterilize according to safety procedures.
Operates the decontamination and terminal sterilization equipment and reports all malfunctions or changes in the parameters.
Sorts, inspects, assembles, and wraps or packages all decontaminated items.
Assures proper sterility of all processed items by adhering to established sterilization procedures, including loading, unloading, storage, handling techniques and sterility assurance monitors.
Incubates Biological Monitors and records all monitors results according to established procedures.
Prepares single items and various sets as designated.
Tracks and follows a recall policy of equipment and items.
Checks in and out of loan instruments.
To be able to support and contribute to the achievement of continuous quality improvement in the delivery of services to clients.
Staff should be competent as follows:
Perform biological indicator procedure correctly.
Apply decontamination process properly.
Applies correct inventory, dispensing and distribution procedure.
Provides standards of CSSD sterile supplies.
Provides proper care and safety of powered instrument.
Perform correct high and low temperature sterilization process.
Applies correct packaging and storage supplies.

Performs any other duties within the range of his/her professional knowledge and skills as directed by Supervisor of CSSD.
One year experience in CSSD, or a minimum of two years formal healthcare training.
Ability to read, writes, and verbally communicates in English.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to be an effective team member.
Willingness to undertake training as necessary.
Technician training course in CSSD.
Or Nursing diploma.
