Job Summary:

The Staff Midwife is responsible for delivering high-quality, safe, and patient-centered midwifery care across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal services in accordance with SEHA/Corniche Hospital standards and Department of Health (DOH) regulations. The role ensures optimal outcomes for mothers and newborns through evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and effective multidisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive midwifery care during antenatal, labor, delivery, and postnatal stages.
  • Perform normal vaginal deliveries independently, recognizing and escalating complications promptly.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing using appropriate clinical tools and techniques.
  • Assist physicians in high-risk and emergency obstetric cases.
  • Support immediate newborn care, including resuscitation when required (as per certification).
  • Deliver culturally sensitive and patient-centered care aligned with SEHA values.
  • Provide health education on pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Support and promote breastfeeding practices.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families, ensuring clear understanding of care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with DOH, SEHA, and Corniche Hospital policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in patient medical records.
  • Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
  • Work collaboratively with obstetricians, neonatologists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Escalate clinical concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Support a positive and professional work environment.
  • Maintain valid licensure and required certifications.
  • Participate in ongoing education, training, and competency assessments.
  • Stay updated with best practices and advancements in midwifery care.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery or Nursing with Midwifery specialization
  • Valid DOH License/Eligibility as Midwife (mandatory)
  • Current BLS certification; NRP or equivalent preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Midwife in a hospital setting
  • Strong experience in labor & delivery, antenatal, and postnatal care
  • Experience in tertiary or high-volume maternity hospitals preferred

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong clinical judgment and midwifery expertise
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage high-pressure clinical environments
  • Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills
  • Arabic speaking is highly preferred; fluent English required
  • Patient-focused, compassionate, and culturally aware

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work shift duties (including nights/weekends)
  • Compliance with SEHA occupational health and credentialing requirements
