Responsibilities
– Ensure Patient Satisfaction Promoting customer service based philosophy in line with that of the hospital foundation and respective health authority
– Promoting harmonious relations with medical, nursing and allied health professionals on a daily basis
– Coordinating the nursing staff in the unit ensuring quality patient care
-Acting as a role model for student nurses and junior staff
-Participating in the orientation of new employees
-Participating in performance appraisals of charge nurses, peers, staff nurses, student nurses and junior staff
-Identifying training and development needs of junior staff
-Liaising with the Unit Manager (UM)/Clinical Nurse Coordinators (CNC) / Charge Nurses (CN) regarding staffing issues
-Attending monthly ward / department meetings
-Provide Clinical Care Working as a Registered Nurse within a team advising and supporting colleagues and ancillary staff in the delivery of nursing care
-Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care plans for each individual patient ensuring a patient centred individual approach to care
-Communicating with UM/CNC about any cancellations, special requirements and essential resources that might be required for any procedure
-Documenting care of each patient from admission through to discharge
-Coordinating and participating in health education for individual patients
-Communicating effectively with patients and their relatives and all healthcare professionals. Using standardized method to “hand over” using S-BAR
-Maintain Confidentiality Maintaining confidentiality of all information in accordance with hospital policy and UAE Professional Code of Conduct for Nurses
-Maintain and Promote Team Work Participating as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive team environment
-Participating in changing practices through Shared Governance councils
-Co-coordinating the nursing staff in the units ensuring quality patient care
-Acting as a role model for student nurses and junior staff
-Participating in the orientation of new employees
-Participating in mentorship roles for new employees, student nurses and junior staff
-Participating in performance appraisals of student nurses and junior staff
-Participating effectively, honestly and appropriately in peer reviews for annual appraisals
-Identifying training and development needs of junior staff
-Liaising with the charge nurses regarding staffing issues
-Attending monthly ward / departments meetings
-Complies with and maintains Quality Assurance and Improvement Participating in, contributing to, and implementing quality improvement ideas and principles
-Monitoring and evaluating ward / department operations and services in order to identify and correct problems, improve systems and ensure a safe quality service
-Participating in internal audit programs, and understands the value of quality indicators for nursing practice improvements
-Understanding the process for sentinel events / incident reporting
-Observes Appropriate Occupational Health and Safety, Materials Management, Maintenance Standards Adhering to requirements of the Occupational —Health and Safety Guidelines and Infection Control Guidelines
-Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies
-Identifying and acquiring equipment and supplies needed for patient care and procedures in a timely and cost effective manner
-Monitoring and evaluating general and pharmacy supplies and adjusting accordingly to demand and budget constraints
-Setting stock levels and monitoring material resource usage; ensuring supplies are available for clinical use and not expired
-Reporting shortfall of supplies to charge nurses; liaising with supplies department regarding shortages and requirements
-Liaising with the UM/CNC and nursing staff with regard to suitability of equipment and supplies
-Participating in identifying equipment/resource needs
-Contributing to product evaluation at unit levels
-Participating in trials related to new product lines, as appropriate
-Participating in the development of policies and procedures in the units, relating to equipment and materials
-Referring items for repair and initiating minor work procedures
-Reporting and documenting any missing items to UM/CNC/CN
-Reporting to the charge nurses regarding the standard of performance of the cleaning services
-Reporting faulty equipment to the UM/CNC/CN or engineering section, as relevant
-Maintaining compliance in relation to the Occupational Health and Safety standards

Special Certificate:-
Required
- NLT 4 years clinical experience post qualification in an
appropriate & relevant healthcare settings to include NLT
2 years experience in a specific area of specialty
- e.; primary health care, community, acute care, tertiary
care.
