The Specialist, Pediatrics is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. The role involves diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic pediatric conditions while delivering high-quality, evidence-based care within the scope of granted clinical privileges. The Specialist will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and exceptional family-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric patients across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings as applicable.
- Manage acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and developmental concerns in children and adolescents.
- Conduct routine health assessments, well-child visits, and immunization services.
- Monitor growth, development, and nutritional status of pediatric patients.
- Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families.
- Interpret laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic investigations to support clinical decision-making.
- Develop individualized treatment and follow-up plans according to international best practices.
- Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists and multidisciplinary teams when required.
- Participate in family-centered care discussions and ensure effective communication with caregivers.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within electronic medical records.
- Adhere to all patient safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
- Participate in on-call coverage and emergency pediatric care as required.
- Support clinical governance initiatives, audits, and continuous quality improvement programs.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, MD, or equivalent).
- Recognized residency training in Pediatrics.
- Specialist qualification recognized by the Department of Health (DOH), Abu Dhabi.
- Eligibility for or possession of a valid DOH License as Specialist Pediatrics.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of post-specialization experience.
- Strong clinical knowledge in general pediatric medicine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based medicine and patient-centered care.
