Sharq Insurance is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Medical Underwriter to join our Underwriting team.

As a Senior Medical Underwriter, you will play a key role in underwriting new and renewal business, evaluating medical risks, supporting product profitability, and collaborating with clients, brokers, TPAs, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders to deliver best-in-class underwriting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Evaluate and underwrite new business, renewals, endorsements, and policy amendments in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
  • Assess medical insurance proposals, analyze risk exposures, and determine competitive and profitable pricing recommendations.
  • Prepare and issue accurate quotations, policies, endorsements, and renewal documentation.
  • Verify premium calculations, policy information, and underwriting data within insurance systems, including Premia, NextCare, and GlobeMed.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Brokers, TPAs, Healthcare Providers, Clients, and Reinsurers to ensure efficient policy administration and excellent customer service.
  • Support treaty reinsurance placements and account validations in coordination with the Manager – Medical Underwriting.
  • Conduct compliance, due diligence, and risk assessment activities in line with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Monitor policy renewals to ensure timely retention of business and achievement of premium targets.
  • Prepare underwriting reports, portfolio analysis, and management information to support business decisions.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor products, pricing, and underwriting practices to recommend improvements and maintain competitiveness.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, operational excellence, and continuous enhancement of underwriting practices.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, governance, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

We’re looking for professionals with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • 6–10 years of experience within the insurance industry, including substantial experience in Medical or Health Insurance Underwriting.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, medical insurance products, policy administration, and risk assessment.
  • Experience working with underwriting platforms such as Premia, NextCare, and GlobeMed is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Strong understanding of insurance regulations, governance, and compliance requirements.
  • Professional insurance qualifications such as FIII, ACII, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
