Reporting to the Manager of Rehabilitation, the Occupational Therapist – Paediatrics provides specialized, evidence-based therapy services for infants, children, and adolescents. The role supports developmental, sensory, cognitive, and functional growth, ensuring child-centered and family-focused care while adhering to M42 and DOH/DHA policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Interpret referrals and conduct comprehensive developmental assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on standardized and dynamic assessments.
- Assess and treat challenges related to:
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Sensory processing and sensory integration
- Visual-motor integration
- DIR/Floortime
- Implement sensory integration therapy techniques.
- Create customized home programs and collaborate closely with parents/caregivers.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and assistive technology when needed.
- Monitor developmental progress and modify intervention plans accordingly.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case discussions and goal setting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Minimum 6 years of pediatric OT experience in a large hospital setting.
- DOH/DHA License or eligibility.
- Strong knowledge of child development and sensory integration principles.
- Excellent communication and family engagement skills.
Preferred:
- Certification in Sensory Integration.
- Experience in cognitive rehabilitation for children.
- Experience in school-based therapy programs.
- Training in alternate access or assistive communication devices.
