Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures and undertakes full comprehensive & accurate assessment of patients physical, psychological and social needs including those patients with diverse or complex presentations/multi pathologies; using investigative and analytical skills, and formulate individualized management and treatment plans, using advanced clinical reasoning and utilizing a wide range of treatment knowledge, skills and options to formulate a specialized program of care.
- Evaluates patient progress and alter treatment programs as and when appropriate
- Maintains and is responsible for own caseload under the clinical supervision of a senior Occupational Therapist and dealing with referrals in line with the departmental policy.
- Implements and uses a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients, and their families/care takers, the diagnosis and treatment plan to help progress rehabilitation. This will include patients who may have difficulties with understanding or communication
- Develops comprehensive discharge plans and works with relevant professionals to arrange ongoing care
- Communicates effectively with patients, relatives and other care providers on a group or individual basis in order to maximize rehabilitative potential. This may require explanation, instruction, persuasion, motivation, negotiation and reassurance or the use of behavioral modification techniques
- Formulates and completes all necessary records, reports and statistics in line with agreed occupational therapy service policy and professional guidelines. Record personally generated clinical observations
- Maintains up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge in order to provide a well- developed level of informed professional knowledge, and according to organizational requirements (e.g. minimum of CPD / CME hours per year required for re-licensing)
- Maintains Clinical competency in assigned specialist area/s
- Assists Senior OT with maintenance of sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties by following procedures for the management of these items.
- Complies with all safety, health and quality control programs and procedures as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience :-
Required:
- NLT 2 years post graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist in relevant experience
with patients with same diagnosis seen in acute care hospital or Rehab Facilities

Educational Qualification: Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma from an accredited institution in Occupational Therapy (minimum three (3) years course duration)
OR
- Direct entry to a recognized program with the attainment of an MSc degree in Occupational
Therapy
- AND Current National License
Desired:
- Master’s in Rehabilitation Services or relevant clinical MSc in related field (will reduce 1 year from the required years of experience)
