Job Summary
Laboratory Technologists have a critical role in the successful execution and implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) in all phases of the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical laboratory processes. Preparing the samples for examination, using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation, performing numerous complicated tests simultaneously, and accurately interpreting the results are all part of a medical technologist’s job.
Key Responsibilities
Ensures Incident Report Forms are promptly completed in the event of a damaged sample, loss or spillage and confirms that the clinical laboratory processes meet requirements for clinical certification and relevant accreditation (e.g., CAP).
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in order to produce timely and accurate data for patients, QC results, and Proficiency Testing (PT) results.
Execution and implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) in all phases of the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical laboratory processes.
Set up, operate current and new equipment, instruments and apparatus required for specific laboratory tests and assume adequate responsibility to maintain operations including preventive maintenance
Responsible for providing information, communicating, handling and following up results, and coordinating with external laboratories in the recommended way, manage all lab operations and integration with other departments within the company/facility. -Ensure that all regulatory agency guidelines are met including those mandated by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15189:2012, the Joint Commission (JCI) and other relevant accrediting bodies. – Assists the Clinical Laboratory Manager and Supervisors distributing proficiency samples, analysis, and reporting of testing results.
Qualifications and Skills
BSc degree in Medical Technology / Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Science.
DOH license and/ DOH passed
Minimum of three (3) years in a clinical laboratory in Abu Dhabi
In-depth knowledge about basic laboratory procedures and understands importance of maintaining a clean workspace by following all lab regulations for health and safety.
Advantage: Experience in a CAP accredited laboratory.
Language Preference-English/Arabic is a plus.
