Sharq Insurance is looking for an experienced and strategic Manager – Reinsurance to lead our Reinsurance function. This leadership role is ideal for a highly accomplished insurance professional with deep expertise in treaty and facultative reinsurance, portfolio management, risk optimization, and stakeholder management.

As Manager – Reinsurance, you will play a critical role in developing cost-effective reinsurance programs, optimizing risk transfer strategies, and supporting the company’s underwriting profitability while ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As the Manager – Reinsurance, you will:

  • Lead the overall Reinsurance function, ensuring effective execution of reinsurance strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage treaty renewals and facultative reinsurance placements, ensuring timely completion and optimal coverage.
  • Develop and maintain cost-effective reinsurance programs that support profitable business growth and effective risk management.
  • Monitor reinsurance exposures, portfolio performance, and underwriting profitability while recommending strategic improvements.
  • Review and approve reinsurance transactions, placements, contracts, cover notes, and documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with reinsurers, brokers, cedants, and other key industry stakeholders across international markets.
  • Oversee collections, cash calls, outstanding recoveries, and monthly reinsurance account closures.
  • Collaborate closely with Underwriting, Finance, Claims, and other business units to ensure effective portfolio management and reporting.
  • Drive process improvements, operational efficiency, governance, and compliance across the Reinsurance function.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, AML due diligence, internal controls, audit standards, and company policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Reinsurance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Insurance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional insurance qualification such as AIII, ACII, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • 10–15 years of insurance industry experience, including significant experience in Reinsurance within a supervisory or managerial capacity.
