Sharq Insurance is seeking an accomplished Manager – Medical Underwriting to lead our Medical Underwriting function. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and commercially driven insurance professional to oversee underwriting operations, lead a high-performing team, and contribute to the company’s continued growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
As Manager – Medical Underwriting, you will:
- Lead and manage the Medical Underwriting function, ensuring operational excellence and achievement of business objectives.
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies aligned with the company’s strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and approve underwriting decisions while ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and risk management standards.
- Partner with Sales, Brokers, Bancassurance, Reinsurance, TPAs, Finance, Actuarial and other stakeholders to deliver competitive and profitable insurance solutions.
- Oversee pricing recommendations in collaboration with actuarial teams, balancing risk and commercial objectives.
- Drive product development, process improvement, quality enhancement initiatives, and service excellence across the department.
- Monitor departmental KPIs, productivity, profitability, and service levels to ensure high performance.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, audit standards, and governance frameworks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, reinsurers, regulators, and other external stakeholders.
- \Lead, mentor, and develop the Medical Underwriting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
We’re looking for professionals who have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- 10–15 years of experience within the insurance industry.
- Extensive experience in Medical Underwriting, including several years in a managerial leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance products, underwriting principles, pricing, and risk assessment.
- Excellent understanding of insurance regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and deliver business results.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
