Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.
Danat Al Emarat is seeking an experienced Lactation Specialist to join our Women & Children’s team in Abu Dhabi. We are looking for a passionate professional dedicated to supporting mothers and newborns through evidence-based breastfeeding education and clinical care.
Responsibilities
- Provide lactation consultation and breastfeeding support to inpatients and outpatients
- Assess and manage complex breastfeeding challenges
- Educate mothers and families on feeding techniques and newborn nutrition
- Support NICU/PICU mothers with milk expression and feeding plans
- Collaborate with midwives, nurses, neonatologists, and OB teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or a related healthcare field
- Valid DOH license (or eligibility to obtain)
- Minimum 2+ years post-qualification experience in Maternity, Postpartum, or NICU settings
- Completion of at least 95 hours of Lactation Specialist education/training, IBCLC
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based breastfeeding practices and maternal-newborn care
- Understanding of WHO/UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) recommendations and the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding
- Excellent communication, counseling, and patient education skills
- Compassionate and culturally sensitive approach to patient care
