Faculty Member in Microbiology- General Medicine Practice

Job Description

Batterjee Medical College is seeking a qualified and engaging Faculty Member in Microbiology to join the General Medicine Program. This role focuses on delivering high-quality teaching in medical microbiology, supporting student development, and contributing to research and academic excellence in line with accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Academic Delivery

  • Deliver Microbiology lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions to medical students
  • Cover core areas including:
    • Bacteriology, Virology, Mycology, and Parasitology
    • Immunology fundamentals
    • Infection control and antimicrobial resistance
  • Facilitate laboratory sessions using cultures, slides, and simulation tools
  • Integrate microbiology with clinical practice and case-based learning
  • Utilize LMS (Blackboard) and digital teaching tools
  • Prepare and administer assessments (e.g., ExamSoft)
  • Maintain accurate academic records (attendance, grades, reports)

Student Support & Academic Development

  • Provide academic advising and mentoring
  • Support students in understanding infection mechanisms and clinical relevance
  • Monitor performance and provide timely feedback

Research & Scholarly Activities

  • Conduct and publish research in microbiology or related biomedical fields
  • Participate in academic conferences and research initiatives
  • Contribute to the research culture within the program

Academic Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with academic policies and accreditation standards (e.g., NCAAA)
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement
  • Prepare course and program reports

Collaboration & Engagement

  • Participate in departmental meetings and academic committees
  • Collaborate with clinical faculty for integrated teaching


Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Microbiology or related biomedical field
  • MBBS with specialization in Microbiology / Infectious Diseases is mandatory
  • Experience teaching Microbiology in a medical or health sciences program
  • Familiarity with laboratory teaching and safety standards
  • Experience with LMS (Blackboard) and educational technologies
