Job Summary:
The Pharmacist at metabolic Glucare Integrated Diabetes Center will play a vital role in supporting patient care by dispensing medications accurately, providing expert advice on drug therapy, and ensuring compliance with DHA and UAE regulations. The role focuses on delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered pharmaceutical services, with a strong emphasis on diabetes management and chronic disease care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispensing & Patient Care:
- Accurately dispense prescribed medications while ensuring correct dosage, administration, and patient safety
- Provide clear patient counseling on the safe and effective use of medications, including side effects and interactions
- Offer medication therapy management, particularly for patients with diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic conditions
- Support patient adherence programs and lifestyle management as part of Glucare’s integrated care model
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure full compliance with DHA and UAE federal pharmacy laws and guidelines
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, controlled drugs, and pharmacy documentation
- Oversee storage conditions of medicines and ensure adherence to cold chain management where applicable
- Participate in internal audits, accreditation processes, and quality improvement initiatives
- Collaboration & Team Support
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and dieticians to support patient treatment plans
- Support multidisciplinary case discussions for complex patient care
- Collaborate with the pharmacy team to manage stock, procurement, and inventory control
- Operational Duties
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and assistants as needed
- Ensure proper inventory management, including monitoring of near-expiry and slow-moving items
- Contribute to process improvements to enhance patient experience and operational efficiency
Understands, follows and supports all hospital infection control programs to ensure patient and staff safety.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
- Valid DHA Pharmacist License
- Minimum 2-3 years of pharmacy experience (healthcare or clinical setting preferred; retail pharmacy experience acceptable if combined with strong patient counseling skills)
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and chronic disease management
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills, incl excellent English
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and basic IT applications
