Cellular Therapy Laboratory Technologist

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1.Performs preparation, processes, and cryopreservation of cellular therapy products, including hematopoietic progenitor cells (apheresis, bone marrow, or cord blood), CAR-T cells, and gene therapy.

2.Applies advanced laboratory techniques such as plasma depletion, red blood cell depletion, and volume reduction for cellular product preparation.

3.Conducts cryopreservation procedures for cellular products to ensure safe long-term storage and viability.

4.Performs cellular selection and processing, including Removal of T Cells from Products (CD34+) selection, to ensure the proper composition and dose for infusion.

5.Ensures precise calculation and documentation of cellular therapy doses, following laboratory protocols for accuracy and regulatory compliance.

6.Monitors and controls the transport of cryopreserved cellular products to clinical facilities and oversees thawing procedures.

7.Conducts regular quality control checks on laboratory equipment and ensures proper maintenance and calibration according to established protocols.

8.Secures inventory levels of laboratory supplies and equipment necessary for cellular therapy process, coordinates in timely manner reordering and receiving.

9.Ensures full compliance with laboratory standards, including College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) guidelines, through strict adherence to quality assurance protocols, safety measures, and infection control.

10.Documents laboratory data accurately, including product processing details, quality checks, and deviations, and prepares comprehensive reports for review by laboratory management.

11.Assists in the development and refinement of laboratory protocols and procedures to optimize cellular therapy product preparation and processing.

12.Provides technical guidance and training to junior laboratory staff, students, and interns, ensuring proficiency in cellular therapy laboratory techniques.

13.Participates in laboratory inspections and internal audits, contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives and maintaining regulatory compliance.

14.Writes an official delegation of all responsibilities and assignments before leave/vacation.

15.Performs other job-related duties as assigned as per the policy within the entity assigned.

Qualification:

Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Sciences or an equivalent in one of the applied medical specialties.

Experience:

Two (2) years work experience in cellular therapy field.
