Role Overview Responsible for managing and optimizing the operating room (OR) booking and scheduling system in line with surgical guidelines and Department of Health/M42 regulations. Ensures smooth coordination of elective and emergency surgeries, accurate documentation, and effective communication across clinical and administrative teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily surgical schedules to ensure smooth flow and optimal theatre use.
- Coordinate with surgeons, nurses, and managers on priorities and case needs.
- Serve as the main contact for scheduling, patient coordination, and procedure readiness.
- Update accurate patient data, forms, and case details in Cerner.
- Maintain correct procedure codes and theatre utilization metrics.
- Review pre-admission data, flag issues, and ensure surgical clearance.
- Balance complex schedules, surgeon availability, room capacity, and urgent cases.
- Support financial clearance and authorization processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field (preferred).
- 3 years of Operating Theatre experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Knowledge of OT systems, protocols, and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and spoken English.
