Job Description

Position Summary:

The Specialist Psychiatrist shares the same responsibility as the Consultant Psychiatrist for delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care. The Specialist Psychiatrist is expected to be an example of clinical excellence and contribute to the supervision and training of junior doctors.

Required:

• MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution AND.
• The current national license or equivalent
• Completion of specialty qualification as per the “Recognized Specialty Certificate”.
• Tier 1:

No experience is required after obtaining the main or sub-specialty qualification.

• Tier 2:

No experience is required after obtaining the main or sub-specialty qualification.

• Tier 3:

-UAE nationals & Children of Emirati Women: One (1) year experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification. No experience is required after obtaining a sub-specialty qualification.

-Non UAE nationals: Three (3) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification. Two (2) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification.

• One year of experience in addiction psychiatry.
• Managing patients with comorbid psychiatric and substance use disorders.
• Managing patients in withdrawals or in acute intoxication.
• Preferred to have some experience in relapse prevention therapy.
