The Specialist, Family Medicine is responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients of all ages. The role involves the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions while promoting health and wellbeing through evidence-based, patient-centered care. The Specialist will serve as a trusted healthcare provider, coordinating care across specialties and ensuring continuity of treatment within the scope of granted clinical privileges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients across all age groups.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Conduct routine health assessments, preventive screenings, and wellness examinations.
  • Develop individualized management plans for patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and cardiovascular conditions.
  • Promote disease prevention through vaccination programs, health education, and lifestyle counseling.
  • Perform minor medical procedures within the scope of granted clinical privileges.
  • Assess mental health concerns and provide appropriate treatment or referral when required.
  • Coordinate patient care with specialists, allied health professionals, and community healthcare providers.
  • Interpret laboratory, radiology, and diagnostic investigations to support clinical decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
  • Provide urgent and non-urgent medical care as required.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to clinical governance activities and continuous professional development programs.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, MD, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a recognized residency training program in Family Medicine.
  • Specialist qualification recognized by the Department of Health (DOH), Abu Dhabi.
  • Eligibility for or possession of a valid DOH License as Specialist Family Medicine.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of post-specialization experience in family medicine or primary healthcare settings.
  • Strong clinical expertise in managing patients across all age groups.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered care.
