Role Description The Senior Medical Underwriter – SME & Corporates is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The role is responsible for assessing and underwriting medical insurance risks for small and medium enterprises (SME) and corporate clients, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day tasks include evaluating medical history and risk profiles, reviewing group health insurance applications, determining appropriate coverage terms, and setting premiums in line with underwriting standards. The Senior Medical Underwriter will collaborate with sales, operations, and claims teams to support quotations, renewals, and policy adjustments, and provide expert guidance on complex cases. The role also involves preparing underwriting reports, contributing to product improvements, and supporting training and mentoring of junior underwriters.
Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Medical Underwriting and Underwriting for SME and corporate health insurance portfolios.
  • Solid knowledge of Insurance principles, health insurance products, and IPMI market practices.
  • Demonstrated Analytical Skills for risk assessment, pricing, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Effective Communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and presenting underwriting decisions.
  • Several years of relevant experience in medical underwriting, preferably in group or corporate health insurance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, healthcare, business, or a related field; professional underwriting or insurance certifications are an advantage.
  • Familiarity with UAE insurance regulations and regional market dynamics is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using underwriting and policy administration systems, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work proactively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple cases, and meet deadlines.
