Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.
A Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse is a highly skilled healthcare professional dedicated to providing specialized, life-saving care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. Working in a fast-paced and high-acuity environment, PICU nurses monitor complex conditions, operate advanced life-support equipment, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in accordance with established clinical standards and protocols
- Continuously monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, neurological status, and overall condition, promptly identifying and responding to changes
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and advanced life support interventions, including ventilation and cardiac monitoring
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
- Operate and manage specialized medical equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and monitoring systems
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and progress
- Support and educate patients’ families, providing clear communication and emotional reassurance during critical situations
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards to ensure a safe clinical environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the relevant regulatory body (e.g., DOH/DHA/MOH)
- Minimum of 2-3 years of recent experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit or critical care setting
