Job Description
This position will support women and their families through pregnancy and labor and immediately after birth. They will be responsible for the physical, mental, and emotional care of their patients during delivery. This position will provide prenatal and postnatal education, examine the patient during the pregnancy, and assist patients in creating birth plans. Registered N will also ensure the health and well-being of the newborn and mother during delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide holistic, evidence-based care to women during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal phases, including all three stages of labour.
- Manage maternity and neonatal emergencies such as Postpartum Haemorrhage (PPH), Antepartum Haemorrhage (APH), shoulder dystocia, and induction of labour.
- Care for high-risk women under the direction of a senior midwife, both antepartum and intrapartum.
- Manage patients with epidurals and caesarean section cases.
- Perform cannulation, phlebotomy, urethral catheterisation, and CTG (Cardiotocography) monitoring and interpretation.
- Examine and monitor pregnant women, assess care requirements, and prepare care plans.
- Undertake screening tests and antenatal care in hospital settings.
- Monitor and administer medication, injections, intravenous infusions, and fetal monitoring during labour.
- Support and advise parents in the daily care of newborn babies, including sensitive care in cases of miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, or neonatal death.
- Commit to a “mother-friendly” approach to care.
- Maintain confidentiality of all organizational, patient, client, and employee information in accordance with policies and laws.
Qualifications
- UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Degree in Nursing (minimum two years course duration) And Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
- Has worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 2 years.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and stakeholders.
- Highly self-motivated with strong internal work standards; sets realistic goals for self and supports others in achieving team objectives.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, ensuring goals are met in dynamic environments
