Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients in accordance with hospital policies and international best practices.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor clinical status, identifying and responding promptly to any deterioration.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic parameters, and invasive monitoring devices.
- Care for patients with conditions including:
- Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
- Myocardial Infarction (MI)
- Heart Failure
- Cardiogenic Shock
- Life-threatening Arrhythmias
- Cardiac Arrest
- Post Cardiac Catheterization complications
- Manage patients receiving advanced cardiovascular therapies such as:
- Mechanical Ventilation
- Arterial Lines
- Central Venous Catheters
- Temporary Pacemakers
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
- ECMO (where applicable)
- Impella devices (where applicable)
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) when required
- Administer medications, vasoactive infusions, anticoagulants, thrombolytics, and blood products safely and accurately.
- Recognize and respond effectively during medical emergencies, including Code Blue situations, utilizing ACLS protocols.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, cardiac surgeons, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans, disease management, medications, discharge planning, and lifestyle modifications.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in unit-based education, competency assessments, audits, and continuous professional development activities.
- Mentor junior nurses and support students or newly hired staff during orientation when required.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse license.
- Valid DOH, DHA, or MOH license/eligibility (for UAE positions) is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Cardiac ICU (CICU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), or Critical Care setting.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
- CCRN or Cardiac Nursing certification is an advantage.
