- Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
- Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilize appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
- Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
- Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Ability to identify and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with Social Service/Discharge Planner regarding both in hospital and post discharge needs.

- Cooperate and participate in the survey activities (Staff Satisfaction, Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture, Learning Needs Assessment, Communication Needs Assessment) of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Competently and accurately assesses patients and identifies actual and potential nursing diagnosis/patient care needs
- Competently plans and prioritizes age and provide appropriate care for identified patient group.
- Safely and properly delivers age and specialty appropriate nursing care to identified patient group.
- Evaluates the patient/family response and outcome(s) to implement care and modifies the plan accordingly.
- Competently, professionally, timely and consistently completes accurate, concise, and legible documentation of hospital records (administrative and clinical) and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Practices and promotes positive customer and peer relations.
- Utilizes nursing research and quality improvement to enhance practice.
- Responsible in performing all patients care and carries out administrative responsibilities as delegated by Head Nurse.
- Meets with Shift in charge and head nurse to discuss staffing and work routines, patient care, policies and procedures, regulations, problems and grievances.
- Keeps head nurse informed about patients, activities of department, problems and needs in assigned work area.
- Assist and participates with orientation, instruction and supervision of subordinate in assigned area and assumes responsibility for the unit in absence of the head nurse.
- Performs duties as required:
- Receive reports.
- Admits and orients patients and family.
- Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
- Review and revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
- Perform waived testing (point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory’s and the patient care unit’s policies and procedures interpret results of waived tests; take appropriate action on waived tests results.
- Assist physicians with procedures which include but not limited to: Lumbar puncture
- Performs and assists in performing specific Nursing procedures which include but not limited to:
- Blood transfusion
- Blood extraction and IV insertion
- Pre and post-operative care
- Urinary catheter insertion
- Wound dressing
- Arranges for diagnostic and therapeutic service as ordered.
- Send/ place diet orders to dietary department.
- Follows the ten-medication administration protocol and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Assembles patient chart and attached required forms.
- Takes and transcribe physician order.
- Adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilise appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Consults physician when necessary.
- Schedules appointment and arranges for patient transportation in other department for care of services.
- See the equipment are clean and in good working condition prior to use.
- Maintain controlled and Narcotic drugs.
- Completes unit forms and registers.
- Gathers required statistics and prepares reports as required
- Observes proper technique in the performance of all duties.
- Makes patients rounds, evaluates patient condition.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Cooperate and assist department concern in the implementation of patient and family education policy and procedure
- Formulates and delivers a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate
- Maintain the cleanliness of department following infection control protocols
- Monitor hospital environment for compliance with Infection Control policy and Procedure.
- Demonstrate awareness of fire/equipment hazards and the necessary precautions to be activated as per hospital policy.
- Maintain all documents of MSDS, HAZMAT in coordination with FMS Team
- Actively support Patient’s Rights and Responsibilities policy and procedure of the organization.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.

Qualifications
- Qualified Registered Nurse
- Current License from DHA to practice in Dubai UAE
- License from the Country of Origin (if applicable).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate.
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience after qualification.
