Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment & Diagnosis:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including detailed patient history, mental state examinations, and psychological evaluations.

• Diagnose psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, and substance use disorders, in line with the specialty and Privileges of the psychiatrist.

• Work with patients to identify and explore psychiatric, medical, and psychosocial factors contributing to their conditions.

Treatment & Care Planning:

• Develop personalized, evidence-based treatment plans for patients based on their individual needs and diagnoses.

• Recommend and manage appropriate psychopharmacological treatments (e.g., antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers) and therapeutic interventions.

• Monitor treatment progress, adjusting medications and therapy approaches as needed to optimize patient outcomes.

• Conduct regular follow-up appointments and coordinate care to ensure continuous improvement in patients’ mental health.

Therapeutic Interventions:

• Provide individual and group psychotherapy when appropriate, utilizing techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, or other evidence-based modalities.

• Collaborate with other clinicians, including psychologists, therapists, social workers, and nurses, to provide integrated care.

Transdisciplinary Collaboration:

• Participate in the transdisciplinary team meetings to discuss and review patient cases, treatment progress, and evolving care needs.

• Offer psychiatric expertise to other medical professionals in cases involving complex mental health and medical issues.

• Provide leadership and supervision to junior psychiatrists, and other clinical staff.

Crisis Intervention & Emergency Care:

• Respond to psychiatric emergencies, providing immediate assessment and intervention for individuals in acute psychiatric distress.

• Provide safe and effective management of patients with severe mental health crises, such as suicidality, aggression, or severe psychosis.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive medical records for all patients, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.

• Prepare and submit necessary documentation for treatment plans, referrals, and insurance purposes.

• Complete reports and assessments required by licensing and legal authorities, courts, or other parties when needed.

Patient and Family Education:

• Educate patients and their families about the nature of psychiatric disorders, treatment options, medication management, and coping strategies.

• Provide resources and guidance to help families support patients in their mental health recovery journey.

Research & Professional Development:

• Engage in continuous professional development by attending relevant training, conferences, and workshops to stay updated on the latest psychiatric research and treatment methodologies.

• Contribute to clinical research or quality improvement projects aimed at improving the standard of psychiatric care at the clinic/hospital.

Requirements:

• DHA license or Eligibility Letter (mandatory)

• Bilingual- Fluent in English and one other language

• Immediate Joiners Preferred
