King’s Jumeirah Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient-focused Phlebotomist to join our growing team. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect blood and other specimens from patients of all age groups, including pediatric, adult, geriatric, and transplant patients.
  • Verify patient identity and ensure accurate labeling of all specimens.
  • Confirm patients have followed required test preparations, including fasting and medication restrictions where applicable.
  • Ensure timely and safe transportation of specimens to the laboratory.
  • Provide a positive patient experience by maintaining dignity, comfort, and professionalism throughout the collection process.
  • Support and reassure anxious patients while demonstrating excellent bedside manner.
  • Check insurance approvals and payment completion prior to specimen collection.
  • Accurately document patient information and collection details within the relevant systems.
  • Adhere to infection control, health and safety, and biohazard disposal protocols at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and laboratory teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Report adverse events, incidents, or concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information.

Qualifications

Requirements Essential Qualifications

  • DHA License (or eligibility) as a Phlebotomist or Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or an equivalent healthcare qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant phlebotomy experience.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, medical center, or clinic setting is preferred.
  • Strong practical knowledge of specimen collection techniques across all age groups.

Skills & Competencies

Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) / Resuscitation certification accredited from American Heart Association

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong patient care focus with empathy and professionalism.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Sound understanding of infection prevention and control practices.

Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital healthcare systems.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
