Key Accountabilities
Specimen CollectionCollect blood and specimens from patients across all age groups, including geriatric and transplant patients, using appropriate techniques.Confirm patient identity and ensure all samples are labeled correctly.Verify that patients have followed test preparations such as fasting or medication restrictions.Ensure timely delivery of collected samples to the laboratory.Patient Care & SafetyMake sure patients are comfortable and safe during the collection process.Handle anxious or difficult patients with care, patience, and professionalism.Report any adverse reactions or incidents to the supervisor immediately.Administrative DutiesCheck that patients have obtained insurance approvals and completed payments before starting the procedure.Record and document collections accurately in hospital or clinic systems.Infection Control & ComplianceFollow infection control and safety protocols, including proper disposal of sharps and biohazard waste.Work closely with doctors, nurses, and laboratory staff to ensure samples are collected and processed efficiently.Other ResponsibilitiesPerform any additional duties reasonably assigned by the organization or line manager, even if not explicitly listed in this job description, to meet operational needs and support specific objectives of your department and organizationComply with all organizational and departmental policies, procedures, legal requirements, and applicable regulations at all times, and take personal responsibility to read, understand, follow and keep updated with the latest versions.Avoid and report any actions that may cause financial loss, reputational damage, or breach of trust to the organization, including fraud, dishonesty, or misrepresentation, which may result in disciplinary action, termination, and legal liability.Maintain confidentiality of all organizational, patient, client, and employee information in accordance with policies and laws. 
Education & Qualification, Experience, Training, Knowledge & Skills
Education & QualificationUAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).Bachelor’s in Medical Laboratory or equivalent qualification is required or eligibility to practice as a phlebotomist/healthcare assistant. Experience Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a related field.Experience in a hospital or clinic setting is preferred.Strong knowledge of specimen collection techniques for all age groups. Training, Knowledge & SkillsDemonstrates strong leadership and communication skills by guiding, supporting, and managing the team, including overseeing team performance evaluations to ensure effective collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.Awareness and understanding of King’s College Hospital (KCH) policies and initiatives.Resuscitation Certificate as per the specialty& Demonstrable ongoing and active Continues Personal Development (CPD)Supports quality patient care by showing empathy, maintaining patient dignity, and following proper protocols.Supports and guides junior team members, offering advice and assistance if required.Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and discretion, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and stakeholders.Highly self-motivated with strong internal work standards; sets realistic goals for self and supports others in achieving team objectives.Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, ensuring goals are met in dynamic environments.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage unexpected issues and identify when to escalate.Maintains professional and personal credibility across all staff groups.Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced work environment. 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures in accordance with hospital standards
  • Correctly label, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality at all times
  • Adhere to infection control policies, safety standards, and DHA regulations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Collaborate with laboratory and clinical teams as required

Qualifications

Eligibility & Requirements (Mandatory)

  • UAE National (Emirati Passport and Family Book required)
  • Valid DHA License or Eligibility letter as Phlebotomist
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred
  • Willingness and ability to work in Dubai
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
