Oxygen Therapy Nurse

Job Summary

The Oxygen Therapy Nurse is responsible for monitoring patients during oxygen treatment, ensuring their safety, adjusting oxygen equipment as prescribed by the physician, and observing the patient’s response to therapy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor oxygen therapy equipment
  • Observe and assess patients during oxygen treatment sessions
  • Monitor vital signs, including oxygen saturation (SpO₂), pulse, and respiration
  • Ensure patient safety and prevent complications during therapy
  • Adjust oxygen flow, pressure, and duration according to medical orders
  • Document patient condition before, during, and after treatment
  • Report any abnormal signs or reactions to the physician
  • Educate patients about oxygen therapy procedures and safety instructions

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license or equivalent
  • Experience in general nursing or respiratory care preferred
  • Training in oxygen delivery systems or respiratory therapy (advantageous)

Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of respiratory and oxygen therapy equipment
  • Close patient monitoring and attention to detail
  • Good communication with patients and healthcare team
  • Ability to handle sensitive or critical patients
  • Ability to work under pressure
