Job Description

Role Purpose

Within the limits of his/her written clinical privileges, to manage patients for whom he/she is responsible to the highest attainable standard of care within the resources in full compliance with Dallah Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides consultation, diagnostic, and surgical treatment through examination of the oro-facial and the head and neck region.
  • Perform routine periodic check-ups.
  • Discuss with patients the possible treatment options.
  • Prescribes and reviews medication appropriately and timely manner that is within the scope of his or her practice.
  • Practice infection control procedures as per the policy of the hospital.
  • Refers to other specialties as the case requires.
  • Manages all oral surgery emergency cases.
  • Perform all scopes of oral surgery.
  • Daily Procedures

a. Examines the daily patient list.

b. Confer with the dental assistant on the procedures that will be done for the patients.

c. Coordinate with the receptionist any matter(s) that relate to the appointment list.

d. Provide consultation on new patients with complete personal, medical, dental, and social history taking.

e. Perform diagnostic procedures to arrive at a correct diagnosis and treatment plan for the patient.

f. Discuss with the patient the diagnosis and the treatment options, along with the costs of treatment.

g. Gives oral health care instructions to the patient.

h. Studies the next day’s patient list and checks the clinic’s preparedness seen in the patients listed.

i. Book a patient for surgery under GA with duly completed forms.

j. Responds to any call from ER or any ward.

k. Perform scheduled surgeries in the OR.

l. Follow-up of the patient post-operatively and after discharge of patient.

  • Responsible for investigating, diagnosing, and treating the oral conditions of patients by using scientific evidence to improve patient care practices as per his or her clinical privileges
  • Writing clinical notes (including assessment and care plans) in patients’ medical records as per the hospital policy.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal & communication skills that establish & maintain professional relationships with patients, families, co-workers, & other members of the healthcare team.
  • Able to demonstrate both understanding of contexts and systems in which health care is provided and the ability to apply this knowledge to improve and optimize health care.
  • Demonstrates cost-conscious care, including avoiding the overuse and misuse of diagnostic tests and treatment
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, understanding & sensitivity to diversity & responsible attitude towards other staff and patients
  • Develops and coordinates the Quality Improvement Program within his area of responsibility
  • Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families better understand and participate in their care and make well-informed care decisions.
  • Performs any other duties within the range of his competence as directed by the Head, Dental Center, and/or Chief of Medical Staff.

Experience: At least one (1) year of experience

Education | Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry or Master’s Degree in Oral Surgery

Other Skills:

  • Satisfactory training in Oral Surgery
