1. Clinical Oversight:

– Ensures patient care is delivered effectively and efficiently, including overseeing patient assessments, care plans, and treatment interventions.

– Supervises and supports nursing staff and students, including scheduling shifts, managing workloads, and providing guidance and preceptorship.

– Monitors and evaluates the nursing team’s quality of care, addressing issues related to patient safety and care standards.

– Conducts purposeful rounding on the unit, visiting and interacting with patients and staff to ensure their needs are met, prevent complications, and improve overall care quality.

2. Administrative Responsibilities:

– Coordinates patient care with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive and continuous care.

– Oversees accurate and timely patient care and nursing documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

– Organize and oversee the unit’s daily activities, completing all tasks promptly, including patient monitoring, Procedures, admissions, transfers, and discharges.

– Conduct unit rounds every shift to ensure all rooms were ready to use and all required maintenance requests were in place.

– Ensure the completion of daily unit assignments and countercheck the compliance of all unit staff.

– Ensure compliance with the infection control practice by all disciplines. – Monitor and countercheck the compliance of all bundles.

3. Emergency and Crisis Management:

– Leads the response to emergencies, including coordinating with emergency services and ensuring  appropriate actions are taken.

– Addresses and resolves unexpected issues or complications during patient care or within the unit.

4. Staff Development and Training:

– Supports staff training and continuing education to ensure that nursing staff remain current with best  practices and new developments in healthcare. Supports and participates in continuous educational  activities.

– Conducts performance evaluations for nursing staff during the shift, providing feedback and identifying  areas for improvement.  

5. Resource Management:

– Manages and oversees medical supplies and equipment, ensuring that necessary resources are available  and in good condition.

– Monitors and manages the unit’s budget, including controlling costs and ensuring efficient use of  resources.

 6. Leadership and Decision-Making:

– Provides leadership and support to the nursing team, fostering a positive work environment and  promoting teamwork and collaboration.

– Makes critical decisions regarding patient care, staff management, and operational issues, often under  pressure and with limited information.

 7. Communication and Collaboration:

– Conducts safety huddles at the beginning of the shift or as needed to enhance patient safety and improve  communication among the healthcare team.

– Facilitates effective communication within the nursing team and between different departments,  ensuring that information is shared promptly and accurately. Escalate concerns to the unit manager,  nursing supervisor, and multidisciplinary team.

– Addresses patient and family concerns, updating patient status and ensuring their needs and preferences  are considered.

– Manages and resolves conflicts or issues among staff, patients, or families professionally and  constructively.

– Demonstrates compassionate communication skills while providing support and care to the patients and  staff.

– Maintain a positive and proactive approach to challenges. – Educates patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and preventive measures.   

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

 – Service-oriented, professional with open communication.

–  Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have demonstrated in leadership and management.

– Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

– Computer skills (Word, excel, power point, etc.)   And Clerical Skills (phone, scanning, scanning, preparing agenda and taking Minutes of Meetings, etc.) competencies, technical skills and personal attributes as required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years full time registration nursing experience with one year as a charge nurse in the same specialty.

Education: Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Equivalent. Language: Excellent command of English language ,Arabic is a plus.

Licenses / Certifications: License from the country of origin, License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. (SCFHS / DHA), BLS, ACLS and other LSTC courses as applicable.
