Occupational Hand Therapist

Job Description

This role specializes in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with upper extremity conditions, including injuries, surgeries, or chronic problems affecting the hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. They use various techniques, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities, to help patients regain strength, range of motion, and function. Hand therapists also provide education and support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with upper limb injuries and conditions.
  • Design and implement customized, goal-directed treatment plans.
  • Educate patients and families on home programs and self-management strategies.
  • Fabricate and fit custom upper extremity orthoses as required.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to support holistic recovery.
  • Monitor patient outcomes using standardized tools and update care plans accordingly.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement, clinical education, and service development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy OR Direct entry of a recognized program with attainment of a MSc degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Minimum of 6 years as an Occupational Therapist, ideally in a hospitalor rehab setting
  • Experience treating hand injuries or conditions
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Must have valid UAE license (Department of Health)
