Nurse Educator

Job Description

Assess, plan and implement educational programs based on training needs analysis.

  1. Prepares training programs and educational activities.
    1. Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses at all stages of their career development.
    2. Delivers competence based programs for nursing staff with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge. 
    3. Develops evidence-based educational materials.
    4. Prepares the annual training calendar.
    5. Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programs.
    6. Carries out evaluation of nurses and certifies them based on competence where required.
    7. Develops, directs and evaluates the orientation of newly hired nursing staff.
    8.  Ensures preceptors are assigned with the new staff.
    9.  Identifies opportunities for training and learning.
    10.  Develops and guides in maintaining clinical competencies as per each clinical areas.
    11.  Integrates NMC guiding principles and model of care in nursing practice, and confirms the    practice is abided by DHA regulation and other regulatory authorities or accreditation bodies.
    12.  Ensures culturally appropriate patient focused nursing care is provided by nurses.
    13.  Observes international patient safety goals are followed throughout the patient journey and care process.
    14.  Reinforce on patient education by nurses on the care process and other relevant information.
    15.  Utilizes resources appropriately and efficiently ensuring cost effectiveness.
    16.  Maintains a database of current and ongoing staff training records.
    17.  Coordinates with other disciplines of health care for professional development of the nurses to ensure safe delivery of patient care.
    18.  Drives change, innovation, creativity , strategically think , as appropriate to scope of practice
    19.  Monitors and reports on the professional behavior and grooming of staff.
    20.  Coordinates and liaises with outside agencies regarding training and education for nursing staff.
    21.  Serves on the nursing committees for development and review of patient care standards and nursing policies and procedures.
    22.  Ensures the review and evaluation of nursing documentation and recommends for appropriate change when indicated.
    23.  Facilitates nursing documentation process in coordination with hospital information system team.
    24.  Suggests and implements clinical practice improvement as identified.
    25.  Investigate incidents, near-misses as delegated by the nursing administrator.
    26.  Follows situational leadership tailored to needs.
    27.  Serves as a resource person for nursing staff in relation to ongoing education and staff development.
    28.  Participates in strategic planning of the department in line with the organizational goals.
    29.  Involves in planning departmental budget.
    30.  Generates reports on the educational activities.
    31.  Reports to the nursing administrator appropriately on the professional developmental needs and performance of the staff.
    32.  Represents on selected nursing and hospital wide committees as required and when appointed by the Nursing administrator and effectively contributes.
    33.  Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior with colleagues and health care providers.
    34.  Ensures that all policies, procedures, guidelines and work instructions that relate to the department are regularly reviewed and updated, as required.

Qualifications

  1. MSc/BSc in Nursing. BLS certified. ACLS/PALS desirable.
    1.   Current license in country of origin and with DHA license (Registered Nurse) to practice in        Dubai, UAE. 
    2. Minimum 8 years of clinical experience with minimum of 2 years as educator experience.
    3. Demonstrate effective communication in English both written and verbal.
    4. Demonstrates sound decision-making and leadership abilities.
    5. Certification in education is preferable.
