Job Summary

The Nurse Manager is responsible for leading, supervising, and coordinating nursing services in the long-term care hospital to ensure safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. The role involves clinical leadership, staff management, compliance with NHRA regulations, and continuous improvement of nursing practices.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Operational Management

  • Oversee daily nursing operations across wards/units in the long-term care facility.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and evidence-based nursing care.
  • Monitor patient outcomes, quality indicators, and incident reports; initiate corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure proper patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate with physicians, allied health professionals, and support services to ensure continuity of care.

Staff Management & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise nursing staff including Charge Nurses, Registered Nurses, and HCAs.
  • Prepare duty rosters, manage staffing levels, and ensure optimal skill mix.
  • Conduct staff performance appraisals, competency assessments, and probation evaluations.
  • Identify training needs and support ongoing professional development of nursing staff.
  • Promote a positive, ethical, and professional work environment.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with NHRA standards, hospital policies, and Bahrain labor laws.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation activities.
  • Implement infection control practices and patient safety initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to nursing standards of practice.

Policy & Process Improvement

  • Develop, review, and implement nursing policies, SOPs, and clinical guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and clinical governance activities.
  • Support change management initiatives within nursing services.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist in budgeting, resource planning, and cost control within the nursing department.
  • Monitor utilization of supplies, equipment, and medications.
  • Prepare reports for senior management as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Valid NHRA nursing license (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Minimum 8–10 years of nursing experience, with 3–5 years in a leadership/managerial role.
  • Prior experience in Long Term Care, Rehabilitation, Geriatric, or Chronic Care settings is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of NHRA standards and healthcare regulations in Bahrain.
