Job Summary:
Conducting diagnostic tests and procedures to evaluate the function of the nervous system in patients with neurological disorders or conditions. Performing neurophysiological studies, monitoring patients during procedures, analyzing data, and assisting healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating neurological conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting a variety of neurophysiological tests and procedures, including electroencephalography (EEG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), electromyography (EMG), evoked potentials (EP), and polysomnography (PSG).
- Preparing patients for tests by explaining procedures, obtaining consent, and positioning patients comfortably.
- Applying electrodes, sensors, or other recording devices to the scalp, skin, or other body parts according to standard protocols and safety guidelines.
- Monitoring patients’ physiological responses during neurophysiological tests, such as brainwave patterns, nerve conduction velocities, muscle activity, and sleep stages.
- Operating specialized equipment and instrumentation to acquire, amplify, filter, and record neurophysiological signals accurately.
- Ensuring the integrity and quality of recorded data by troubleshooting technical issues, adjusting settings, and maintaining equipment calibration.
- Analyzing neurophysiological data, waveforms, and patterns to identify abnormalities, artifacts, and clinical findings indicative of neurological disorders or dysfunction.
- Interpreting test results, preparing reports, and communicating findings to supervising physicians or healthcare providers in a timely manner.
- Collaborating with neurologists, neurosurgeons, or other specialists to correlate test results with clinical symptoms, medical history, and diagnostic imaging findings.
- Monitoring patients’ comfort, safety, and well-being during neurophysiological testing procedures, ensuring proper positioning, immobilization, and support as needed.
- Documenting patient demographics, medical history, procedural details, and test results accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or other documentation systems.
- Performing other professional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education Degree: bachelor’s degree in neurodiagnostic technology, clinical neurophysiology technology, electroneurodiagnostic technology, or a related field.
- Years of Experience: Up to 2 years of experience within a related field.
- License: Registry Eligible Status.
