About the job
The Individual Medical Underwriter is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, responsible for managing and supporting the Individual Medical Insurance business of the brokerage. The role will work closely with the internal sales team, direct clients, and insurance company Underwriters and Relationship Managers to ensure timely quotations, renewals, approvals, and smooth policy processing.Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate closely with the internal sales team to understand client requirements and provide suitable Individual Medical Insurance solutions.
- Obtain, review, negotiate, and share new business quotations and underwriting terms with the sales team and direct clients within agreed timelines.
- Ensure renewal terms are obtained and shared with the sales team and direct clients well in advance of policy expiry, allowing sufficient time for follow-up and retention.
- Handle direct client enquiries, understand their requirements, coordinate with insurers, and provide appropriate quotations and policy options.
- Liaise with insurance company Relationship Managers, Underwriters, and relevant departments regarding quotations, medical underwriting, approvals, special terms, loadings, exclusions, and other underwriting requirements.
- Negotiate with insurance providers, wherever possible, to obtain competitive premiums, improved terms, and suitable coverage options for clients.
- Maintain strong and professional relationships with insurance company RMs and Underwriting teams to ensure efficient service and timely responses.
- Support the sales team with technical underwriting guidance, product information, insurer terms, benefits, exclusions, and applicable conditions.
- Follow up on pending quotations, approvals, medical requirements, policy issuance, endorsements, and renewals to ensure there are no unnecessary delays.
- Coordinate with internal Operations, Finance, Claims, and other relevant teams to ensure a smooth end-to-end client and agent experience.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, renewals, approvals, client requirements, and insurer communications in the CRM and internal systems.
- Prepare and share daily Individual Medical business reports with management, covering quotations, renewals, conversions, pending cases, approvals, and other key business activities.
- Monitor renewal pipelines and ensure timely action on upcoming expiries to maximize renewal retention and conversion.
- Track sales performance, pending opportunities, and insurer responses, and provide regular updates to management.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with UAE insurance regulations, company policies, insurer guidelines, and applicable compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, turnaround times, insurer negotiations, and overall service quality for the Individual Medical business.

Qualifications
- Strong client relationship management and customer service skills, with the ability to understand and address diverse client needs.
- Strong knowledge of insurance company portals and systems for obtaining quotations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple accounts, renewals, and administrative tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain insurance products clearly and professionally.
- Proficiency in basic technology tools, such as CRM systems, email, and office productivity software.
- Prior experience in insurance broking, financial services, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance products and local market regulations in the UAE is an advantage.
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related discipline is beneficial; however, equivalent experience will be considered.
- Ability to work on-site in Dubai and collaborate effectively in a diverse, team-oriented environment.
