The LIMS Specialist is responsible for the daily administration, development, and support of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). This role leads the development of LIMS functionality, implements lab workflows, and ensures regulatory compliance. A critical component of this position is serving as the primary liaison between IT and service users while managing complex laboratory master data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of lab workflows within LIMS platforms and manage laboratory master data.
  • Create and optimize SQL data queries against the database to improve system performance.
  • Develop professional laboratory reports using SAP Crystal Reports.
  • Lead the development of LIMS functionality for the laboratory and assist in ongoing LIMS updates.
  • Work alongside laboratory personnel to create or update master data for assays, specifications, and test plans.
  • Provide first-level diagnostics of LIMS-related incidents and resolve issues in collaboration with IT.
  • Act as the “point of contact” for on-site LIMS, gathering and delivering repetitive issues to the Global LIMS Team.
  • Serve as the liaison between IT and service users for system implementation and maintenance.
  • Support audits and inspections by providing necessary data and information upon request.
  • Maintain the system in a validated state and own standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Comply with ISO 17025 requirements and the Laboratory quality management system.
  • Coordinate and deliver LIMS training programs for new and existing staff.
  • Participate in Health and Safety activities and perform risk assessments in the area of responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically with LabWare LIMS, including instrument interfaces and advanced functionalities.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent field.
  • Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of LabWare LIMS, LabWare Lab Station, and LabWare Web APIs.
  • Proficiency in SQL queries and database management.
  • Experience with SAP Crystal Reports.
  • Adaptability: Must be willing to learn and contribute to other LIMS applications used by different labs within the organization as the need arises.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Independent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet time constraints with limited supervision.
