Biomedical Specialist

Job Description

Responsible for the maintenance of all biomedical equipment and appliances of Dallah Hospital to ensure patient and staff safety, and reliable, accurate function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the timely repair of all biomedical equipment and appliances as required, and in accordance with any relevant policies and procedures.
  • Implements the Planned Preventive Maintenance scheme for biomedical equipment and appliances, performing all the tasks and functions at the prescribed intervals.
  • Maintains the appropriate stocks of spare parts for all biomedical equipment and appliances, by regular review and ordering through the stores/purchasing department.
  • Participates in the assessment of need, preparation of plans and cost estimates for purchasing new or upgrading, biomedical equipment and appliances.
  • Recommends new policies and procedures with respect to Biomedical Section.
  • Supervises the performance of any external contracts for biomedical equipment, monitoring and controlling performance and approving work done.
  • Monitors and maintains the medical gas systems, procuring supplies of medical gases to ensure an uninterrupted supply to all clinical areas.
  • Collaborates with the biomedical supervisor in the preparation of the annual budget for the engineering services.
  • Fully aware and actively implement the departmental policies and procedures, local and international accreditation standards or requirements related to the department.
  • Facilitate requirements of Medical Equipment Management Program relevant to organization wide functions and processes.
  • Actively involves in indicator development, data collection for the department and to measure the performance of the function, process, and outcome. Whenever required, conducts analysis and interpretation of data/information collected.
  • Participate in hospital Safety Management & Risk Management Programs. Actively reports incidents in the system and whenever needed, participates in incident review, and root cause analysis.
  • Performs other applicable tasks assigned within the level of his/her competence as required by the department Manager.

Necessary Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years in biomedical engineering, with three (3) years recent experience position in a health care institutional setting.

Education and Certifications Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Biomedical Technology.
