Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral centre for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.

A Healthcare Aide in the Labour and Delivery Department provides essential support to nurses, midwives, and physicians in delivering safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care to mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The Healthcare Aide assists with patient comfort, hygiene, mobility, and basic care needs while helping maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment for patients and their families. Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, they contribute to a positive childbirth experience and support the efficient operation of the department.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Provide comfort measures to laboring mothers, such as assisting with positioning, ambulation, and non-pharmacological pain relief techniques.
• Support patient mobility and safe transfers within the unit.
• Measure and record vital signs as directed and report any abnormalities to the nursing staff.
• Assist nurses and midwives in preparing patients for examinations, procedures, and delivery.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of patient rooms, delivery suites, and equipment.
• Restock medical supplies, linens, and essential equipment in patient care areas.
• Transport patients, specimens, equipment, and medical records as required.
• Assist with postpartum care by supporting mothers with basic comfort and hygiene needs after delivery.
• Support newborn care activities under the supervision of nursing staff, including preparing supplies and maintaining a safe environment.
• Observe and report changes in patients’ physical, emotional, or behavioral conditions to the healthcare team.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during labor and delivery.
• Assist in maintaining infection prevention and control standards.
• Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
• Respond promptly to patient call bells and requests for assistance.
• Participate in emergency situations by providing support to the healthcare team within the scope of practice.
• Document care activities accurately according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with nurses, midwives, physicians, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.
  

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant Course preferred.
