- Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate directly with the assigned Registered Nurse, Customer Service Staff, and/or Reception Team regarding the schedule or appointment to advise if any patient preparation is required prior to visiting the facility for medical consultation, relevant procedures, treatment, and/or follow-up.
- Perform proper, complete, and holistic health assessments in accordance with established standards required for medical consultation, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Order diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, ultrasound, blood tests, etc.) necessary for the patient’s diagnosis and treatment, and be responsible for checking, interpreting, analyzing, and following up on the results and/or reports in a timely manner based on the patient’s case.
- Prescribe vaccinations for treatment and prevention of illness, including travel and flu vaccines.
- Provide medical care to patients in accordance with Aspen Medical’s scope of practice, policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Manage and treat all acute and chronic health conditions, including appropriate follow-up.
- Prescribe medications and provide clear instructions to patients based on identified medical conditions.
- Promote a caring environment where equality and diversity are respected, and patients and their caregivers are empowered as active participants in medical decision-making.
- Provide medical and/or health education to patients and their families, as needed.
- Conduct re-evaluations and assessments of treatments when required.
- Safely utilize medical equipment, devices, and instruments for patient examination, treatment, and other relevant medical care.
- Communicate and meet with patients to discuss and address medical concerns, preventive measures, and establish care plans.
- Collaborate and communicate with other healthcare staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in the implementation of authorized health promotion activities in coordination with the Medical Director and/or Head of Department.
- Comply with the patient referral process to other healthcare professionals, facilities, specialists, or consultants when the patient’s needs exceed the scope of care provided.
- Deliver quality and safe medical services in accordance with local and international medical standards and guidelines, and provide clear explanations of procedures, treatments, and address patient inquiries to foster trust and cooperation.
- Ensure the protection of patients and healthcare team members by adhering to infection prevention and control policies, protocols, and safety measures.
- Ensure that patients receive and that documentation reflects the provision of medical health education as part of the care process.
- Complete documentation of all medical care, services, health education, and treatments provided in the patient’s medical record (physical or electronic) in accordance with professional standards and protocols.
- Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of patient health records.
- Notify the Medical Director of any health and safety issues that may pose a risk to patients or staff.
- Promote and observe infection prevention and control practices within the clinic.
- Assist the Infection Control Officer and other designated health and safety personnel in implementing and monitoring Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety programs.
- Maintain technical and professional knowledge and competency by attending or participating in educational workshops and/or continuous in-service training programs relevant to the role.
- Operate within the scope of the medical setting and role, or as directed by the Head of Department.
- Participate in contingency plans in the event of accidents or incidents within the clinic or facility.
- Ensure the proper operation and safety of medical equipment, instruments, and devices under your responsibility by supervising and guiding the assigned Registered Nurse in preventive maintenance, usage, troubleshooting, repairs, and inventory management.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with facility procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Assist the designated Emergency Response Team during medical emergencies and evacuations, and maintain current certification and skills in BLS, PALS, and/or ACLS as required.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Medical Director and/or Head of Department.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), MBChB, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of an internship program and a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience.
- Eligible for, or currently holding, a valid UAE Medical License as a General Practitioner.
- Additional relevant certifications and/or licenses are an advantage.
