The EMT‑B provides emergency medical care and transportation for patients who are sick, injured, or experiencing medical emergencies. Working as part of an emergency response team, the EMT‑B delivers pre-hospital care in accordance with established protocols while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance
  • Assess patients’ conditions and perform basic life support (BLS) interventions
  • Provide first aid, CPR, oxygen therapy, splinting, wound care, and bleeding control
  • Safely lift, move, and transport patients using appropriate equipment
  • Assist with patient extrication and transfer to healthcare facilities
  • Monitor vital signs and document patient care accurately
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, paramedics, nurses, and physicians
  • Maintain cleanliness, readiness, and proper stocking of ambulances and equipment
  • Follow infection control, safety, and clinical protocols at all times
  • Provide reassurance and support to patients and their families under stressful conditions

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in emergency medical services or healthcare preferred
  • Completion of an accredited EMT‑B training program
  • Valid EMT‑B eligibility/license from DOH
  • Valid Life Support Training Certificates
