Job Summary ( Role Purpose):

The incumbent will contribute to the organization by providing diagnosis and treatment of various skin conditions which includes physical examination and study of patient’s medical history, and analyze collected data to prescribe endorsed treatment.

Key Accountabilities & Duties:

  • Recognize and manage clinical risks in acute cases, resuscitate and stabilise as per patient condition and in line with PHCC guidelines and protocols
  • Carry out a comprehensive history (physical and mental), examination and investigation of individual.
  • Performs a thorough physical and mental state assessment and examination
  • Discuss with patient/carer the need and appropriateness of complex investigation and gain consent
  • Establish a diagnosis using advanced clinical reasoning, experience and local knowledge of epidemiology
  • Communicate in complex situations while being culturally and emotionally sensitive.
  • Carry out opportunistic screening for long term conditions risk factors and early signs of disease
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies presenting at the health center as per protocol and in collaboration with the lead clinician
  • Prescribe medication and/or administer treatment/therapy to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury
  • Adhere to the principles of safe prescribing, utilize PHCC’s electronic prescribing system and tools, discuss with patient the multiple options available and keep accurate record of medication prescribed
  • Manage patients’ long term conditions (chronic diseases) according to their needs and ability and as per PHCC guidelines and protocols
  • Refer patients appropriately to specialists in PHCC or to other providers if their need exceed the range or specialism of services provided in PHCC
  • Provide additional services or enhanced services to the patient within the post holder’s clinical competence
  • Provide appropriate health promotion and preventative healthcare advice to patients and utilize advance counselling skills to influence behavior
  • Interpret and explain complex facts regarding patient’s condition in simple easy to understand language while being aware of level of understanding, disabilities and learning difficulties
  • Maintain high standards of professional integrity and respect for others in all dealings with service users, colleagues, other professionals and members of the public
  • Support health center management in promoting good internal and external communications and where required acts as the lead spokesperson
  • Practice as per PHCC’s policies and procedures regarding quality, safety and infection control
  • Undertake any appropriate duties or responsibilities (as directed) regarding the development of QI, Safety, and IC requirements, and similar programs.
  • Attend appropriate professional training courses/conferences/meetings in consultation with health center manager and the training department
  • Guide all medical and clinical staff and provide adequate and appropriate supervision and mentoring
  • Participate in teaching and training of doctors and other healthcare professionals
  • Involve in the development of training programmes and CPDs for the profession
  • Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by thinking what might go wrong in all your undertakings and take necessary measures to prevent them from happening.
  • Partner with line manager to understand risks in your area of work, develop a plan on how to mitigate those risks, and develop shared accountability for implementing and evaluating the plan.
  • Understand patient safety and ensure it is part of the care delivery.
  • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care process.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality relating to patient, health center and PHCC.

Education Requirements: Primary medical degree from a recognized medical school. Board certification or fellowship/membership or equivalent in Dermatology

Certification, license or training Requirements:

•Specialist training in Dermatology in a recognised training scheme

• ALS course Certificate.

• DHP Specialist License

Experience & Knowledge: The candidate must have the required experience in line with DHP & PHCC requirements, based on the country of obtaining the respective qualification, as per the approved qualification list.
