Job Description
Position Summary: The Dental Assistant is responsible for working closely with a qualified dentist or oral surgeon, ensuring dental sessions run as smoothly as possible. She is responsible for assisting with reception; to carry out any clerical duties as required and perform such tasks as reasonably requested by the Head Nurse.
Required Qualifications:
· Four Years bachelor’s degree in nursing or bachelor’s degree in Dentistry or Dental assistant.
· Two or three years of healthcare experience required.
· DHA or DOH License holder.
· Good co-ordination, organizational skills, work under pressure
· Being friendly, sensitive and supportive with patients
· Team-work oriented
· Knowledge of UAE health laws and regulations.
· Fluent in English and Arabic (preferred)
· Computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
· Two years’ work experience in the UAE in the same field.
· Patients handling experience.
Job Responsibilities:
· Work closely with the dentist, responding quickly to requests.
· Provide chair-side support and assistance to dentist during treatment.
· Set up and prepare the treatment room for the type of patient and treatment planned before the start of each session.
· Prepare, mix and handle dental biomaterials.
· Undertake necessary start up and end of day tests, keeping all necessary recordings in accordance with DHA-HRD (Health Regulation Department) following guidelines on dental infection prevention and safety.
· Continually interpret the needs of the patients and dentists, and deal with them promptly and efficiently.
· Assist in the correct procedure for dental radiography including processing and mounting, following “Local Clinic Radiography Protocol guided by FANR (Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation) guidelines at all times
· Conduct spore/biological indicator tests
· Ensure safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste.
· Maintaining dental operating equipment, making sure all equipment is sterilized and ready before procedures and treatments.
· Report equipment failures or breakages to the Head Nurse, so that action may be taken to remedy any defects
· Processing Labs requests, X-rays.
· Carrying stock control duties, ensuring that all relevant materials and supplies are in place.
· Record patient’s medical history along with vital sign and pain assessment.
· Coordinate and support reception in managing patient appointments.
· Responsible for ensuring high standards of cleanliness and control of infection.
· Comply with all dental ethical guidelines including all rules on confidentiality, Data Protection and Safeguarding Protection.
