Job Description

Responsible for the sterile supply at all times as per need without any interruptions and maintain high standards of quality within the department.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective disinfection and sterilization service • Disassembling, decontaminating, inspecting and reassembling surgical/medical instruments in accordance with established procedures. • Packing and wrapping, sealing and labelling instruments and sets. • Contributes to effective communication, facilitating teamwork and co-operation within the Department and with other Departments. • Apply the principles of microbiology & infection control to all activities in restricted and semi- restricted areas as per standards. • Responsible for the care and handling of all surgical instruments, sterile stock, linen, supplies and equipment in line with competencies. • Provide sterilized materials like dressing materials, minor and major surgical instruments after the sterilizing practice is conducted under conditions, which can be properly controlled, thereby contributing to a reduction in the incidence of hospital infection. • Ensure that hospital acquired infection from sterile supply department is NIL • Follow quality standards are at the highest level at all time and the quality indicators within the accepted limit. • Follow the standard operating procedures as per the approved protocol. • Responsible for carrying out routine sterilizing tasks and responsibility for their supervision. • Ensures that all contaminated items are always kept separate from clean goods and sterile supplies. • Follow correct operating procedures, processing instructions and testing are carried out at all times. • Confirm that routine maintenance /calibration/AMC procedures are followed and documented on all equipment, which includes washing and drying, checking and packing, heat sealing & sterilizing equipment. • Ensure diagnostics equipment are condemned as per the condemnation policy. • Timely escalation of the breakdowns or issues • Validate the sterilization process from time to time to ensure adherence to quality standards. • Distribute optimal number of sterilized material to wards/ICU/OT • Store sterile things properly and ensure sterile storage is as per SOP. • Maintain the shelf life of the packs and effectiveness of machines. (Expiry date, Control and Microbiological tests) • Provide required proper reports to the higher authority and also maintain the communication with the relative departments. • Carries out all the historical records as per standards of documentation and retain in a secure manner. • Ensure the training and development of self and new entrant orientation.

What we’re looking for

• Instrument care, Infection control standards, Sterilization Technology, Basic Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology and practical knowledge on operating the Sterilizers
