The Consultant Pediatric Neurologist is responsible for providing comprehensive, specialized care for infants, children, and adolescents with neurological disorders. The role involves the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of a wide range of pediatric neurological conditions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care across M42 facilities.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage pediatric neurological disorders, including epilepsy, developmental delays, neuromuscular diseases, movement disorders, headaches, and neurogenetic conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Interpret and utilize diagnostic investigations such as EEG, EMG/NCS, neuroimaging, and laboratory studies.
- Manage acute and chronic neurological conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Provide consultation services to pediatricians, neonatologists, intensivists, and other specialists.
- Participate in the care of patients with complex neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and care planning.
- Support quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance, and patient safety programs.
- Participate in teaching, mentoring, and professional development activities for medical staff and trainees.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of residency training in Pediatrics and fellowship/specialist training in Pediatric Neurology.
- Board Certification or equivalent recognized qualification in Pediatric Neurology (e.g., Arab Board, American Board, Canadian Board, CCT, CCST, European Board, or equivalent).
- Eligible for Consultant licensure with the Department of Health (DOH), Abu Dhabi.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-board/fellowship experience at Consultant level preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing a broad spectrum of pediatric neurological disorders.
- Strong communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
