The Consultant Pediatric Neurologist is responsible for providing comprehensive, specialized care for infants, children, and adolescents with neurological disorders. The role involves the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of a wide range of pediatric neurological conditions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care across M42 facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage pediatric neurological disorders, including epilepsy, developmental delays, neuromuscular diseases, movement disorders, headaches, and neurogenetic conditions.
  • Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans.
  • Interpret and utilize diagnostic investigations such as EEG, EMG/NCS, neuroimaging, and laboratory studies.
  • Manage acute and chronic neurological conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Provide consultation services to pediatricians, neonatologists, intensivists, and other specialists.
  • Participate in the care of patients with complex neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and care planning.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance, and patient safety programs.
  • Participate in teaching, mentoring, and professional development activities for medical staff and trainees.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  1. Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  2. Completion of residency training in Pediatrics and fellowship/specialist training in Pediatric Neurology.
  3. Board Certification or equivalent recognized qualification in Pediatric Neurology (e.g., Arab Board, American Board, Canadian Board, CCT, CCST, European Board, or equivalent).
  4. Eligible for Consultant licensure with the Department of Health (DOH), Abu Dhabi.
  5. Minimum of 5 years of post-board/fellowship experience at Consultant level preferred.
  6. Demonstrated expertise in managing a broad spectrum of pediatric neurological disorders.
  7. Strong communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
