Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns
The Clinical Risk Manager leads the investigation and management of complex patient safety events, including sentinel events, and facilitates high‑quality Root Cause Analyses that translate risk insights into sustainable system‑level improvements. The role requires advanced clinical judgment, credibility with senior clinicians, and deep experience applying patient safety science in an acute care setting.The role also plays a key leadership function in regulatory readiness and governance, including oversight of Jawda patient safety indicators, accreditation preparedness, policy development, and formal reporting through internal committees and external regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Leading complex investigations of high‑risk incidents and sentinel events, including full ownership of RCA processes, corrective action development, and effectiveness monitoring
- Providing proactive clinical risk identification, analysis, and mitigation across patient care and operational services
- Acting as a senior advisor to clinical and executive leadership on patient safety, clinical risk exposure, ethical considerations, and harm prevention strategies
- Developing, reviewing, and maintaining clinical risk and patient safety policies aligned with best practice and regulatory requirements
- Managing and maintaining the facility risk register and risk reporting framework
- Analyzing incident and harm data to identify system‑level vulnerabilities and drive targeted, evidence‑based safety interventions
- Ensuring robust Jawda data validation for patient safety indicators, including oversight of data accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance
- Supporting accreditation and regulatory surveys, readiness assessments, and Tasneef Jawda audits
- Leading and delivering staff education and coaching on clinical risk management, patient safety principles, and Just Culture, tailored to clinical and multidisciplinary audiences
- Supporting and contributing to clinical risk, patient safety, and governance committees through expert input and reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (nursing, midwife or other healthcare discipline) require
- Significant experience in clinical risk management and patient safety within an acute care hospital
- Demonstrated capability leading sentinel event investigations and facilitating complex RCAs
- Strong knowledge of Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH) and accreditation standards (JCI) required
- Ability to operate confidently and credibly with senior clinicians and executive leadership
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Fluency in English required; Arabic preferred
